With The Name of the Game: SNAKES AND LADDERS, Christina Hanssen sets out to explore and reimagine feminist themes within the context of today’s societal challenges. Through this work, she aims to revitalize the concept of feminism and adapt it to contemporary realities. The choreography blends traditional and technical aspects with the innovative and artistic, demonstrating how these elements can work in harmony to further the development of jazz dance.

Although the political themes that interest Hanssen may not always be explicitly stated in her works, she consistently strives to create art with deeper meaning and a clear contextual foundation. Her goal is not only to entertain but also to engage and challenge the audience. Through this piece, she seeks to convey complex and emotionally charged themes, hoping to inspire reflection among viewers. The artistic and aesthetic expression is designed to evoke a sense of belonging to a universe that exists beyond our immediate reality. This deliberate contrast allows the audience a certain distance—one that invites deeper contemplation of the work itself.
