SKIN TOO THIN

SKIN TOO Thin confronts the experience of being criticized for weakness, transforming vulnerability into a raw, powerful, and embodied expression of presence.

Original cast

Christina Hanssen

Videography by Sebastian Winther Mathiassen

SKIN TOO Thin is a solo, cinematic exploration of the body in its most raw and instinctive state. In this project, the dancer delves into the animalistic, not as a character to portray, but as a physical and embodied condition. In contrast to previous works, where narrative and character have been central, this piece places full emphasis on presence. Here, the body itself carries the meaning.

The space is entirely white,  costume, room, and lighting, creating a neutral and vulnerable canvas. Within this stark setting stands a body on the verge of dissolution and eruption. Loose and untamed, with hair falling freely, the dancer moves with deliberate awareness. Drawing from the intense energy of jazz dance, the physical language expands into something more abstract and artistic, where boundaries between form, control, and impulse begin to blur.

SKIN TOO Thin explores the tension between restraint and surrender, beauty and exhaustion, polish and rawness - revealing a complex and honest portrait of the dancer as both powerful and vulnerable.
